INTERVIEW
Bunny Jr. with Taylor Cherry and Monep Neptune / Havoc On World.

Bunny Jr: Taylor is in Berlin and Monep is in New York and you both are Havoc On World.
How long has Havoc On World been a thing,
how did you start this collaboration, and how does the collaboration actually work?
I'm assuming that when you started, Taylor lived in New York
Monep Neptune: Yeah, yeah 2021 but yeah, just back and forth, online stuff. You know, that's really how shit gets done, just sending stuff back and forth periodically.
Taylor Cherry: We have chats like what we're doing now and keep each other updated
Bunny Jr: When you send things back and forth during your songwriting,
is there a specific role that you take on with writing or do you split production evenly?
Taylor: It’s pretty fluid honestly — we don’t lock into strict roles.
Sometimes I’ll lead more on structure or production, sometimes they’ll steer the writing, but most of the time it evens out naturally.
We send ideas back and forth and just build on whatever feels strongest rather than trying to split it in a technical way.
Bunny Jr: its rare to see a long distance collaboration work but it's obvious you have a really good collaboration. You still get stuff done even though you have a six hour time difference
and you’ve made all your albums like this
which is really wild and exciting to me.
I'm especially excited about this last record.
I’ve listened to it over and over again, and it sounds like an expansion from your prior releases which were more straight-forward house music albums. This one seems to play a lot more with experimental song structures and traditional songwriting. What inspired this direction?
Monep: Originally, I guess we were supposed to make this album as the first project
but it didn't make sense, because we were DJing in New York at the time. So I was like, we'd rather make house music and not play the music that we make at these spots. And that worked well. Then, I went to Berlin and we just talked about a new direction
Taylor: I think I also mentioned an album with more ambient dark beats.
Monep: Then he was like — we can have people sing on it too. And I'm like, those are songs, that's not beats anymore. It's just songs
Bunny Jr. : Its great when projects naturally develop into the next phase.
One of the things about this album that I really enjoy is that it feels cinematic.
There's a storyline throughout, and it feels important to listen to it from start to finish. Was this something that was a concept that was decided before you started writing? Or did that unfold naturally?
Monep: I feel like it was both.
Because the voice notes on the tracks are actual people we know.
We wanted to talk to them from the perspective of both parties, in a sense, where we represent both sides of a story.
but also have friends help write the story as well.
So that's why it's not like you hear the details, but it's really for the person to listen to and figure out. So that's how all the features happened
And we just tried to put out the best work we could
Bunny Jr. : Yeah totally.
I think especially with so much media fatigue and so many 15 second long clips of people trying to pull you in emotionally via short form media
— listening to an album in the intended start to finish form and creating a sound and story that feels emotionally cohesive is a huge accomplishment, you know?
And I think you guys did that well here.
Taylor and Monep: Thank you
Bunny Jr.: Alright, so we're up on time here.
But what's next for Havoc On World?
Taylor: We wanna tour
Monep: I wanna reunite with my brother
Bunny Jr. : Alright there you go
Havoc On World tour announcement coming up soon.
Thanks for making time today and I'll talk to you guys soon.

I called them up on a whim, and we talked about how the recording process has changed for them over the years — and about how first takes are generally the best takes. They have a new record coming 2026 on Fire Records, Jennifer has a show in Japan sometime over the next year, and they have their monthly Dublab show that you can check out here.

"Jezenia & Quentin make use of electric bass, electric guitar, and modular synthesis, enveloping the instruments in collaged formations. Employing patch diagrams as compositional directives, they locate a space of ever-unfolding uncertainty." -Q
